Great Backyard Bird Count and Afterparty

Hi Coastal Master Naturalists!

Let’s get together virtually after we participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count.

Audubon’s annual Great Backyard Bird Count runs from February 12-15, 2021. Participation is easy and fun (and counts as Volunteer Hours). You just need to conduct at least one 15-minute bird count and submit your sightings to Audubon.  You can do that from the eBird website, or directly using the the eBird app or the Merlin Bird ID app.  Get the apps from your usual app store. For more help, read the How to Participate page to learn more about entering your bird sightings.

The fun continues after the Count! Much of the fun of a bird count is sharing what was seen.  We can’t do that in person yet, but we are going to do it virtually.  Join us on Tuesday, Feb 16, at 6:00pm  on a Zoom call to discuss the birds you observed and reported on during your adventure in your back yard. Use this link to register for the Zoom call. We will send you the link via email to avoid getting zoom-bombed.

Feel free to have pictures on your computer that you want to share, and also, remember that your counting doesn’t have to be in only your backyard.  If you want to adventure out between the predicted showers this weekend, submit and brag about those counts too!

We look forward to hearing about your adventures.
