Sunset Moonrise Stroll – 6873

Jan 9, 2020, Thu 4pm to 6pm

Location: Caw Caw Interpretive Center
Description: Grab that camera or a pair of binoculars and join a naturalist for a leisurely stroll around Caw Caw during the golden hours. We will watch the sunset and the full moon rise while looking for animals that are settling in for the night or just waking up!
Price: $9.00 Ages: 12 and up *A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.

Jan 10, 2020, Fri 4pm to 6pm

Location: Folly Beach County Park
Description: Join a naturalist for a leisurely walk on the beach to admire the southwest end of Folly Island during the twilight hours. We will watch the sunset and the full moon rise while we look for animals that call the edge of America home this time of year.
Price: $9.00 Ages: 12 and up *A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.

Early Birding- 6870

Location: Caw Caw Interpretive Center
Description: If the early bird gets the worm, the early birdwatchers get both! We can leave the worms for the avian life and enjoy finding birds at dawn. A birding professional will help you find the birds and help you to understand their strategies for success in the natural world.
Price: $12.00 Ages: 12 and up *A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.

Seabirding at Folly Beach Pier- 6835

Location: Folly Beach Pier
Description: Birding experts will help you find oceangoing seabirds from the amazing vantage point of the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. Targets include scoters, scaup, grebes, loons, gulls, terns, and more.

Owl Prowl- 6871

Location: Caw Caw Interpretive Center
Description: Owls have long captivated humans with their majestic appearance and enchanting sounds. This evening excursion will give you a greater understanding of the nocturnal predators that may be found in your backyard, the sounds they make, and the adaptations that aid them in successfully navigating the natural world.
Price: $9.00 Ages: 12 and up *A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.

Heritage to Habitat Canoe Tour- 6872

Jan 25, 2020 Sat 9am to Noon

Location: Caw Caw Interpretive Center
Description: Glide silently past feeding herons and witness features hidden to trail-bound visitors by canoeing Caw Caw’s waterways. These interpretive paddles offer a unique look into the ecology of the Lowcountry. Trained naturalists share the cultural and natural history of the area, citing important connections to the past, present, and future.
Price: $28.00 Ages: 9 and up *A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.
While taking part in this activity, participants are required to sit for extended periods of time, bend knees, reach and pull with torso, and climb in and out of boats.
Paddles, life jackets, and canoes are provided to all participants. Due to the location of our launch sites, personal canoes are not allowed, as these areas are not publicly accessible.

Pine Needle Basket Making- 6842

Jan 25, 2020 Sat 10am to Noon
Location: Caw Caw Interpretive Center
Description: Turn needles from the longleaf pine tree into a beautiful work of art. As we coil and weave we will discuss coastal ecology, the human connection to pine, and the decline of the once dominant longleaf pine forest. All materials provided.
