Shorebird Stewards Needed at Botany Bay

Be a Shorebird Steward on Botany Bay Plantation beach! This fall and winter, help Audubon protect our migratory birds as they rest and refuel on Botany Bay, and that means stewarding at the marsh relics where these birds prefer to feed.

Step one: Please watch this entire training video. Every steward must either attend a live training event or watch this video to be a Shorebird Steward: https://sc.audubon.org/conservation/shorebird-steward-training

Step Two: Sign up! www.signupgenius.com You’ve been trained, now let’s make a positive difference for these imperiled birds that need our help so much. Don’t forget to fill out your post-shift survey at the end of your volunteering shift! Botany Bay WMA is only open on Sundays. Please sign up for as many 3 or 4-hour shifts as you would like. All shifts are scheduled for ~2 hours before and ~2 hours after low tide because the beach becomes inaccessible at high tide.

The training video qualifies towards your annual 8 hours of Advanced Training, and volunteering as a steward qualifies towards your 30 hours of Volunteering. To log your hours, go to the Master Naturalist Online Volunteer Hour Reporting System.
