Sort Recycled Oyster Shells Wednesdays 1-3PM

We are excited to announce that SCDNR has a standing volunteer event every Wednesday afternoon from 1-3PM! Volunteers are needed to help us sort debris and recyclables from recycled oyster shell that were collected from local restaurants and roasts. SCDNR will not be sending out weekly emails about these events and they’ve added them to their volunteer calendar on their website, so please email if you are interested in joining on a particular date!

All supplies will be provided including gloves, grabbers, water, bug spray, hand sanitizer and sunscreen. Please bring your reusable water bottle and come dressed to get dirty in long pants and in closed-toed shoes. All ages are welcome to participate!

MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS FOR THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT! We will be practicing social distancing in accordance with CDC and DHEC guidelines.

Volunteers will be escorted  from the parking lot at the corner of Turnbull and Noisette Ave (near Riverfront Park) to the shell storage facility, so space is limited and you must RSVP to secure your spot! Please email us at score@dnr.sc.gov if you are interested in joining the fun!
