Here’s a great volunteer opportunity from Linda Shaw, member of the CMNA and a Fall 2012 MN Class graduate. DNR has a number of days in August when they need 1 or 2 volunteers to help with Shark/Red Drum Sampling. Volunteers meet up at the Grice Marine Laboratory at the end of Fort Johnson Road. Spots fill up on a first come, first serve basis. Linda said she went out with them recently and “had a blast”. She also said volunteers should be prepared to spend 5 hours in a small boat, standing the whole time and working (pulling nets, etc.). The DNR contact is Ashley Shaw ash.shaw2008@gmail.com ( no relation to Linda).
